What is the 2022 Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF) Program?
The shift to virtual learning forced by COVID-19 greatly exacerbated the homework gap–the unfair advantage of students with internet access at home over students without internet access.
The Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF) Program seeks to close the gap by providing funding for things like Chromebooks, laptops, tablet computers, Wi-Fi hotspots, routers, and broadband connectivity equipment for off-campus use by students and staff.
ECF funding can be allocated toward devices that will be used in home or both home and school settings for educational purposes.
In 2021, the ECF Program offered schools two periods to submit applications for funding. The third application period will be from from April 28 – May 13, 2022.
